United is a studio album by soul musicians Marvin Gaye and

 Tammi Terrell, released August 29, 1967 on the Motown-subsidiary

 label Tamla Records. Harvey Fuqua and Johnny Bristol produced

 all of the tracks on the album, with the exception of 

"You Got What It Takes" (produced by Motown CEO Berry Gordy, Jr.)

 and "Oh How I'd Miss You" (produced by Hal Davis).

Few albums capture the magic of Motown’s golden era like United, 

the legendary duet album by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. 

Released in August 1967 on the Tamla label, the record became one 

of the most successful collaborations in soul music and helped

 define the sound of romantic Motown duets.

Blending powerful vocals, orchestral arrangements and irresistible 

melodies, United remains one of the most beloved soul albums of the 1960s.

The Birth of a Legendary Motown Duo

When Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell first recorded together in late 1966,

 their chemistry was immediate. Their first session produced the classic 

“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, which would become one of 

Motown’s most iconic songs.

Their vocal interplay—Gaye’s smooth baritone paired with Terrell’s bright

 and passionate delivery—created a template for soul duets 

that still influences artists today.
