Original The Braceros Sunny Spanish Moss VAULT V-930 vintage soul and funk vinyl single record

VAULT records ‎1966 – V-930

 notes:

Released on the prestigious Vault Records label as catalog number V-930,
The Braceros' "Sunny" backed with "Spanish Moss" remains a fascinating
collectible for soul, funk, and Northern Soul enthusiasts. While many
versions of Bobby Hebb's classic "Sunny" appeared throughout the late
1960s and early 1970s, The Braceros delivered a distinctive interpretation
that blended soulful vocals, tight musicianship, and infectious rhythm.

The A-side, "Sunny," offers a vibrant and groove-driven take on the beloved
standard. The band's arrangement brings a fresh energy to the song,
combining soulful expression with dancefloor appeal that continues to
resonate with vinyl collectors today.

On the flip side, "Spanish Moss" showcases a deeper, moodier atmosphere.
Rich instrumentation and subtle funk influences create a memorable
listening experience, making it a favorite among
DJs searching for lesser-known gems from the era.

credits:

here is no official individual band member credit printed on the 7" vinyl.
In the 1960s Los Angeles music scene, "The Braceros" was almost certainly
a pseudonym created for a group of top-tier West Coast studio session
musicians. The name "Bracero" translates from Spanish to mean "manual
worker" (derived from brazo, meaning arm), paying a thematic homage
to the Latin, jazz, and soul crossover style they were playing. The track features:
Lead Vocals / Ensemble: Latin Soul/Boogaloo style vocal delivery.
Instrumentation: A tight rhythm section consisting of driving drums,
heavy bass, upfront Latin percussion (congas/timbales), and a sharp
brass/horn section executing a mid-tempo groove behind Bobby Hebb's
classic "Sunny" melody.Because it was a localized studio-only project
designed to capitalize on the 1966 Latin soul craze, the exact names
of the session players remain lost to time, sealed within Vault's lost logbooks.
Today, the single remains highly sought after by Popcorn, Soul, and Latin Jazz vinyl collectors.
