The Soulful Strings – Groovin’ With The Soulful Strings (1967 Album Review)
Cadet records 1967 – LPS-796
notes:
Groovin’ With The Soulful Strings is a 1967 soul-jazz
album by The Soulful Strings, released on Cadet Records
and arranged by Richard Evans. Blending lush orchestral
strings with deep funk and jazz rhythms, the album became
one of the group’s most successful releases and a
defining example of late-1960s Chicago soul jazz.
Best known for the hit single “Burning Spear,” the album
showcases the group’s signature sound: elegant string
arrangements layered over driving bass lines, crisp drums,
and infectious grooves. It captures the moment when soul,
jazz,
and orchestral pop met on the dancefloor.
