Little Walter – Hate To See You Go | Chess LP-1535 Review
Notes:
Few blues musicians transformed their instrument as dramatically
as Little Walter. By amplifying his harmonica and treating it like a
lead electric guitar, he created a completely new sound that
forever changed Chicago blues.
Released by Chess Records in 1969, Hate To See You Go (LP-1535)
gathers some of Walter's greatest recordings from the golden era
of Chicago blues. Although it is a compilation rather than a contemporary
studio album, it perfectly showcases his remarkable artistry,
emotional vocals, and revolutionary harmonica playing.
For blues collectors, this LP remains one of the finest introductions
to one of the most influential musicians in blues history.
The tracks were recorded between approximately 1955 and 1959.
