Tower of Power (1973) – Classic Funk & Soul LP Review
Warner Bros. Records 1973 – BS 2681
notes:
Tower of Power
emerged from
Oakland, California, in 1968 and quickly
forged a signature sound that blended soul, funk, R&B, jazz, and
jazz-funk
becoming one of the most influential
horn bands
in modern music.
Rather than simply supplementing rhythm and blues with brass,
Tower of Power made the horn section the heartbeat of their groove
a bold move that set them apart from their contemporaries
and influenced generations of musicians.
