Sonny Stitt – Tornado (1974) Jazz Vinyl LP
Jazz Masters records 1974 – JMLP-1003
notes:
If you want a straight-up masterclass in hard bop saxophone,
Sonny Stitt delivers exactly that on Tornado. This record doesn’t
waste time on gimmicks — it’s all about velocity, clarity,
and
that unmistakable Stitt swing.
Recorded during one of Stitt’s most productive periods,
Tornado
captures him in full flight: fast runs, razor-sharp articulation,
and
a tone that’s both biting and bluesy. Whether he’s tearing
through
up-tempo changes or leaning back into a smoky ballad feel,
Stitt sounds totally in control — like he’s daring the rhythm
section to keep up.
Same record as the other "Tornado" on Discogs, different cover.
Both releases from the mid 70's - released at the same time.
