Michael "Jimmy" James (13 September 1940 – 14 May 2024) was a Jamaican-British soul singer, known for songs like "Come to Me Softly", "Now Is the Time" and "I'll Go Where Your Music Takes Me". Based in Britain, he performed as the lead singer of Jimmy James and the Vagabonds from the mid-1960s.

Doris Troy (born Doris Elaine Higginsen; January 6, 1937 – February 16, 2004) was an American R&B singer and songwriter, known to her fans as "Mama Soul" Troy worked as a backup vocalist for Atlantic Records alongside Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick.[8] She was also part of the original lineup of The Sweet Inspirations in 1963.

Pain in My Heart is the debut album of the soul singer-songwriter Otis Redding. Redding recorded for Volt Records, a subsidiary of Stax Records, based in Memphis, Tennessee. Volt LPs were initially issued on the Atco label, which released this album (the singles were issued on the Volt label). The title song was written and arranged by Allen Toussaint, under the pseudonym Naomi Neville.

It's Gonna Work Out Fine is the fourth studio album released by Ike & Tina Turner on the Sue Records label and the fifth associated Ike & Tina project (including the instrumental album, Dance with Ike & Tina Turner & The Kings of Rhythm) released altogether during their Sue Records tenure. It's notable for their title track, also released on the Dynamite! album. The Turners left Sue Records in 1964 in search of better deals. The album also features Tina Turner's first lyrical composition, "Tinaroo". The cover of the album features a young Tina Turner solely on the cover without her partner. The record "It's Gonna Work Out Fine" earned Ike & Tina Turner their first Grammy nomination.

Junior Parker was an American Memphis blues singer and musician. He is best remembered for his unique voice, which has been described as "honeyed," and "velvet-smooth". He was posthumously inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001. One music journalist noted, "For years Junior Parker deserted downhome harmonica blues for uptown blues-soul music".
