notes:
In 1965, legendary jazz organist Jimmy Smith recorded
the soundtrack for the French-Italian crime film
La Métamorphose des cloportes, directed by Pierre Granier‑Deferre.
The film, starring Lino Ventura and Charles Aznavour,
blends dark humor with classic gangster cinema, and
its music provides a distinctive jazz atmosphere.
For this project, Jimmy Smith created a unique score
built around his signature Hammond organ sound.
The result is an unusual and fascinating example of
1960s jazz film music, mixing soulful grooves,
blues elements, and cinematic tension.
