 notes:

Behind The 8 Ball was Baby Face Willette's final album as a leader.
Unlike his earlier Blue Note recordings featuring larger ensembles,
this session is built around his working Chicago trio, emphasizing
gospel-infused soul jazz and blues. The only additional musician is
Gene Barge, a prominent Chess/Argo session saxophonist, who guests
on the traditional gospel tune "Amen." The album was recorded
at Chess Records' own Ter Mar Recording Studio in Chicago,
where many classic Argo and Chess jazz and blues sessions were produced.
