Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers' Saffron & Soul is one of 
the distinctive Latin soul and soul-jazz recordings from 
Prestige's mid-1960s catalogue. Led by timbales player 
Henry "Pucho" Brown, the group combined Afro-Cuban 
percussion with jazz, soul, pop and R&B influences, 
creating a hard-grooving sound that later attracted 
attention from the acid-jazz scene.

The session features Pucho on timbales with Vincent McEwan 
on trumpet, Claude Bartee and Harold Alexander on tenor saxophone,
Alexander also contributing flute, William Bivens on vibraphone, 
John Spruill on piano and arrangements, James Phillips on bass,
 William Curtis on drums, Richard Landrum on congas and 
Norberto Apellaniz on bongos.
